Torero Golfers competing at USF Olympic Intercollegiate

San Francisco, Calif. - The USD men's golf team is competing in their first tournament of the 2016-17 season. After day one of the USF Olympic Intercollegiate being played at the Olympic Club (par 71, yardage 6,871) the Toreros find themselves in 12th place (14 teams) following team scores of 304-290. Senior Nick Baines leads the team after rounds of 70-75 for a 3-over par total of 145.

BYU is the team leader at even par 568 (286-282) and leads WCC foe Saint Mary's by seven strokes. TCU's Stefano Mazzoli is the clubhouse leader at 3-under par 139 (73-66) and leads four players that are one stroke back at 140. Rounding out USD scorers were Daniel Lopez (T25 at 146; 77-69), George Gardner (T41 at 150; 79-71), Nathan Zhao (T56 at 153; 78-75) and Camilo Mexsen (T67 at 158; 80-78).

The third and final round will be played Tuesday morning.
