(Albuquerque, NM) â€" The USD men's golf team wrapped up the 62nd Annual William H. Tucker Invitational at the Championship Course (par 72, yardage 7,555) on the campus of the University of New Mexico. The Toreros finished in 14th place (16 teams) after closing with a team score of 915 (302-307-306). Senior Nick Baines closed with a 72 today to move up into a tie for 28th at 223 (71-80-72).
San Diego State won the team championship with a three-round total of 863 (-1). Individual medalist honors went to Blake Cannon of Colorado State who finished at 6-under par 210 (71-69-70). He edged out PJ Samiere of San Diego State by two strokes.
Rounding out USD scoring for the team competition was George Gardner (T64 at 230, 77-77-76), Nathan Zhao (T72 at 233, 80-76-77), Daniel Lopez (T77 at 235, 74-76-85) and Camilo Mexsen (T87 at 241, 82-78-81). David Ricciardelli, playing as an individual, finished 83rd at 237 (80-73-84).
Up next for the Toreros is the Fighting Irish Golf Classic to be played October 9-11 at the Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana.
