SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The USD men's basketball team (10-10, 3-5) fell to San Francisco (14-7, 4-4) 60-43 at home Saturday evening. The Toreros, who were without their second leading scorer Olin Carter (illness), were led by Brett Bailey's game-high 18 points and eight rebounds.

The Toreros got a couple early buckets from Brett Bailey, but then they went cold and were held scoreless for the next five minutes. This led to a 12-0 run by the Dons, giving them a 19-6 lead with 9:22 left in the first half.

The Toreros would respond with a mini 7-2 run, with all seven points coming from freshman Nassir Barrino, who got the start for Carter. This was Barrino's first start since November 26.

The Toreros forced seven first half turnovers, but committed eight themselves and trailed 30-21 at the half. 19 of the Toreros' 21 first half points came from Brett Bailey (10) and Barrino (9).

The Dons began the second half on a 7-0 run to open up a 37-21 lead and would hold a double digit lead for the remainder of the game. The closest USD would get was within 12 points (42-30; 12:15).

The Toreros outrebounded USF 40-28, but it was the team's lowest scoring output of the season. They shot just 31 percent from the field and missed their first 16 three point attempts.

Aside from Bailey's 18 points, Barrino chipped in ten points and tied his career-high with seven rebounds. The Dons, who shot 49 percent from the field, did not have a player score in double digits; they were led by Ronnie Boyce and Chase Foster's nine points.

The Toreros head to the Pacific Northwest next week to face the No. 4 Gonzaga Bulldogs on Thursday (6:00 p.m.) and Portland Saturday at 7:00 p.m.
