MALIBU, Calif. - The USD women's basketball team (11-13, 5-9) fell at Pepperdine 57-40 Saturday afternoon. With their offense struggling, the Toreros trailed the entire game and scored a season-low 40 points. Sydney Williams led the way for USD, scoring 10 points and pulling down six rebounds.
After being down 14-5 and the end the first quarter, USD outscored Pepperdine 14-12 in the second quarter behind ten made free throws to close the halftime deficit to 26-19.
The Toreros had two quarters where they were held to single-digit points and shot just 19 percent from the field (12-for-63) for the game and 12 percent from three-point land (2-for-17). Pepperdine was 22-for-53 from the floor, good for 42 percent.
Williams (4-for-18) was the only Torero in double-digits. Aubrey Ward-El chipped in eight points and freshman Patricia Brossman hauled in a team-high eight rebounds. The Waves' Yasmine Robinson-Bacote finished with a double-double, scoring 14 points and grabbing 14 rebounds. Allie Green added 11 points.
The Toreros return home on Thursday to host BYU at 6:00 p.m.
