Fourth Quarter Dooms Toreros in Loss to Gaels

MORAGA, Calif. - The University of San Diego women's basketball team was outscored 29-10 in the fourth quarter, to drop a 77-65 decision to Saint Mary's College Saturday afternoon in a non-conference game at McKeon Pavilion.

With the loss, the Toreros fall to 10-12 overall, and move to 4-8 in the WCC. With the win, the Gaels improve to 14-9 overall, and move to 9-3 in the WCC.

Both Caroline Buhr and Cori Woodward scored a team-best 16 points, while Sydney Williams added in 10 points. Buhr scored her 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field, while just missing a double-double with nine rebounds. Woodward scored her 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting as well, while Williams scored 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

As a team, USD shot 44.2% from the field, while SMC shot 49.2%. USD was out rebounded 38-29, and the Toreros committed 14 turnovers, while the Gaels committed only 10.

For the Gaels, Stella Beck came off the bench to score a game-high 28 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field, while also pulling down eight rebounds. Shannon Mouldin added in 10 points, while Jasmine Forcadilla added in 11 more points.

San Diego will return to action on Thursday, as they host the University of the Pacific in a 6 p.m. WCC game inside the friendly confines of the Jenny Craig pavilion.
