SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The Toreros went out against Princeton Thursday afternoon at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Tennis Center. USD improved 9-6 after they defeated Princeton with a 4-0 victory.

USD snatched the doubles point after winning on courts one and two. USD's No. 1 team of Filip Vittek and Joshua Page defeated Princeton's No. 26 Luke Gamble and Alex Day 6-3. San Diego's No. 1 doubles team has been on fire this season and improved to 13-5 after their win against the Tigers.

USD's No. 2 team of Gui Osorio and Joel Gamerov also came out with a win over Princeton. They defeated Tom Colautti and Payton Holden 6-3.

"I was really proud of the way our boys bounced back today, especially in doubles," said Head Coach Ryan Keckley. "We have spent a lot of time in this area and it is starting to pay dividends. Each court brought it today and that was the spark we needed to really start believing in ourselves."

In singles play, the Tigers and Toreros played until USD clinched the win. Finishing first was Guus Koevermans at the No. 4 spot. He beat Luke Gamble in a 6-3, 6-3 decision. Gui Osorio won his second match of the day against Alex Day at the No. 2 position. This marks the third straight singles win for Osorio.

The last singles win of the day and the point that clinched the victory for USD was from Joel Gamerov on court five. Gamerov defeated Payton Holden in his second win of the day with a 7-5, 6-4 decision.

"I was extremely proud of Garrett who was down 0-6, 0-4 and brought it back to 5-4 triple set point," said Coach Keckley. "He never gave up and fought with positivity and energy. He embodied what we are working towards and it paid off for him today."

The Toreros head out to Utah this weekend the play their second match against another WCC school, Brigham Young University. The Cougars and Toreros will play Saturday, March 25 at 11 a.m.

"We have played five matches in the last eight days," said Coach Keckley. "I really tested the team's toughness and conditioning this past week. They rose to the occasion each match and finished it off with some of their better tennis today."
