LOS ANGELES - The Toreros improved to 12-8 after defeating Loyola Marymount University on Thursday. San Diego improved their conference record to 4-2 while LMU fell to 1-6 in conference and 5-15 overall.
The Toreros swept doubles competition and won all three matches. The No. 88 duo of Filip Vittek and Joshua Page defeated Nick Borchenko and Gabriel Diaz Freire, 6-3. Gui Osorio and Joel Gamerov quickly defeated LMU's Luke Bohuslav and Ryan Brown 6-2 in the No. 2 spot. With the doubles point clinched, the Toreros were still able to grab one more win on court three. Guus Koevermans and Pratt Keerasuntonpong downed Lukas Moenter and Max Kaiser, 6-1.
The early lead left the Toreros needing only three more points to clinch the win. They found just that in the next three matches. Joshua Page, in the No. 4 spot, defeated Luka Moenter in a fast, two set match of 6-3, 6-1. Alexandros Araouzos followed Page's lead and beat Alex Bourgeois on court six in a 6-3, 6-3 decision. The Torero to clinch the win was on court five. Joel Gamerov played Max Kaiser and defeated him 6-1, 7-6.
The men play Pepperdine in Malibu on Saturday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m.
