Conference Play Continues

San Diego travels to Saint Mary’s and Pacific

SAN DIEGO – San Diego continues conference play this week as they travel to northern California.

The Toreros (5-7-1, 1-3) take on Saint Mary's (6-7-2, 1-3-1) on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. and then travel to Pacific (2-12, 0-5) on Saturday for a match at 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Milan Moses scored a golden goal with less than two minutes left in second overtime to secure the win for USD, 2-1, over LMU on Saturday night.
  • The match was the Toreros' third overtime in-a-row, but their first overtime win this season.
  • Katie Lapomarda scored the first goal of the match in the 52nd minute.
  • Summer Mason recorded two assists, sending crosses from the left-side to Moses and Lapomarda to finish off in the box.
  • Amber Michel recorded seven saves during the match, including one in OT to hold the Lions to one goal.


SAINT MARY'S All-TIME RECORD
  • The Toreros have a 16-10 all-time record against the Gaels. USD beat Saint Mary's last year 2-1, when Emma Barrow scored a goal in the final five minutes of the match.
PACIFIC All-TIME RECORD
  • USD has a near perfect record of 9-1, against the Tigers. The Toreros have won the last seven matches, beating Pacific 3-1 last year.

  • Mason and Moses have been the most dangerous up top. Moses leads the team with ten goals and 23 points. She is ranked second in the WCC in points per a game,1.77, and goals per a game, 0.77.
  • Moses has moved to seventh on USD's all-time records list for goals in a season (10) and game-winning goals (4).
  • Mason is second in the WCC in shots per game, 4.54.
  • USD's five goals against San Diego State are the most goals the Toreros have scored in a single game since Aug. 29, 2014, when they defeated No. 10 Michigan, 5-0.
QUALITY DEFENDING
  • Michel has registered five or more saves in nine-of-thirteen matches this year, including a career-best 13 stops against Georgia (Aug. 19).
  • Michel is second in the WCC in saves per game (5.77) and ranks third for her .773 save percentage.
  • The Toreros backline – consisting primarily of Emma Barrow, Kelley Carusa, Devyn Kelsey, and Mina Ghazizadeh- has played well to limit the opposition's attack and keep the Toreros within striking distance in each game.
FRESH LEGS
  • Moses, the red shirt junior transfer from SDSU, has made an immediate impact to offense. She leads the team in goals and shots on goal.
  • Kelsey a junior transfer from ASU, has made an impact on the Toreros back line. She has started in the last three matches. Over the summer, she played in the U-19 US Women's National Team Camp.
