SAN DIEGO – Isaiah Pineiro scored a game-high 27 points and San Diego erased an eight-point second half deficit to earn a 70-64 victory against Colorado on Tuesday night in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Trailing 45-37 with 12:16 to play in the game, the Toreros (4-1) went on a 17-9 run over the next 6:19 to tie the game at, 54-54. USD sealed the victory with a 10-4 run during the final two minutes, including going 8-for-8 from the free throw line during that stretch.

Olin Carter III provided the fireworks in the first half with 16 points and four 3-pointers, and Pineiro delivered the final blows with 15 points in the second half. Carter III finished with 22 points, while Pineiro finished one point shy of his career high with 27.

Yauhen Massalski filled up the stat sheet with a game-high 14 rebounds, seven points, four assists and three blocks.
Evan Battey led the Buffaloes (2-1) offensively with 18 points, while McKinley Wright added 14.

USD was held to its lowest shooting percentage of the season at 37 percent but the Toreros made up for it at the free throw line where they went 18-for-21 (86 percent).

USD outrebounded Colorado, 41-35, and was particularly impressive on the offensive end where it held a 15-10 advantage and capitalized for 18 second-chance points. Along with Massalski's 14 boards, Pineiro grabbed seven and
Tyler Williams and
Isaiah Wright notched five apiece.

The Toreros will look to continue their momentum when they conclude their three-game homestand against Jackson State on Saturday at 7 p.m. PT.
