SAN DIEGO – Myah Pace scored a team-high 17 points to lead San Diego to a 64-55 exhibition-game victory against Cal State San Marcos on Saturday afternoon in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

Pace was excellent throughout the contest and led the Toreros in rebounds (10) and assists (2) along with points.

USD was aggressive from the opening tip and pushed the ball inside throughout the game. USD did a good portion of its offensive damage at the free throw line, going 24-of-33 on the day. USD shot 36 percent from the field, 33 percent from behind the arc and held a lead for 36 minutes of the contest.

Leticia Soares was a big presence inside and racked up seven points and six rebounds.
Sydney Shepard and
Sydney Hunter registered nine points apiece, while
Madison Pollock chipped in eight.

The Toreros held a slight lead, 20-19, after the first quarter but took control in the second. USD outscored the Cougars, 17-13, to take a 37-32 lead into the break.

USD continued the momentum in the second half, outscoring San Marcos, 18-10, to extend its lead to, 55-42, at the end of the third quarter. The Toreros slowed the pace of the game in the fourth quarter to seal the, 64-55, decision.

The Toreros open their regular season on Nov. 7 at Southern Utah and will make their home debut on Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. against Hawaii.
