Â
The Toreros (6-4) shot 44 percent from the field and 50 percent (6-of-12) from three-point range, but could not keep pace with the Roadrunners (4-6) who shot 50 percent from the field and outscored USD, 42-35 in the second half.
Â
San Diego came out strong shooting 50 percent from the field behind Shepard, who scored 22 of her team-high 26 points including six threes in the first half. UTSA started equally strong, shooting 60 percent with three players in double digits at the half.
Â
The Toreros cooled off in the second half, shooting 38 percent and 0-for-3 from beyond the arc. The Roadrunners maintained the lead for a majority of the third quarter before San Diego pulled even, 58-58, with a little over three minutes remaining in the period.Â
