SAN DIEGO - Gui Osorio and Nico Borter clinched the doubles point and improved to 8-2 in dual match play to lead No. 41 San Diego to a conference-opening 5-2 victory against Gonzaga on Sunday afternoon at The Santaluz Club.

The duo, ranked 49th nationally, earned its first top-25 win of the season last weekend against USC and kept the momentum going with a dominating 6-3 performance in the No. 1 spot to defeat the Bulldogs' Kyle Everly and Sam Feit.

Osorio and Borter's victory sealed the doubles point for the Toreros (5-4, 1-0 WCC) after David Norfeldt and Joel Gamerov defeated Gonzaga's (6-3, 0-2 WCC) Matthew Perkins and Emilio Moreno, 6-4.

"Individually, we made several adjustments this past week to prepare for today's match," said head coach Ryan Keckley. "It was encouraging to see some noteworthy performances in these specific areas against Gonzaga. We are a team that needs to believe in the process in order to keep getting better as a group. We made another step in the right direction this afternoon."

The Toreros took control of the match in singles play and earned victories in each of the top four positions. Osorio led the way in the No. 1 spot, defeating Feit, 6-4, 6-0. Osorio improved to 3-2 when playing in the lead position.

Borter earned a, 6-3, 6-4, decision against Ruadhan O'Sullivan in the second spot, while Gamerov took down Hunter Egger, 6-2, 6-1 in the third position. David Norfeldt earned the first victory of his collegiate career when playing in the No. 4 position, defeating Vincent Rettke, 6-3, 6-4.

"Thanks goes out to alumnus, Doug Bradley, for having the Toreros at the beautiful Santaluz Club," said Keckley. "The atmosphere was fantastic which made for a gorgeous day of tennis between two great WCC programs."

The Toreros will look to carry its momentum into the Spring Invite this coming week which it co-hosts with San Diego State.
