March 20, 2018

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego track team competes in two events at the 40th annual Aztec Invite, Friday.

The Toreros opened their spring season with 19 personal bests at the OXY Distance Carnival earlier this month. Freshman Sera Parvin placed second in the 1500 with a time of 5.04.08. Cammy Manes, Erin Duncan and Kate Koehler were shortly behind with 4th, 5th, and 6th place finishes. On the men's side, senior Logan Owens finished with a personal best and a 5th place finish in the 1500, 4:08.07.

Both the women and men will race the 1500 meter and 3000 on Friday evening.

"I am excited to race close to home," said head coach Will Guarino. "This is a golden opportunity for San Diego track fans to get to see us in our neighborhood."

The women's 1500 starts at 7:00 p.m. followed by the men at 7:25 p.m.

The women start off the 3000 at 7:50 p.m. followed again by the men at 8:05 p.m.

"We had a great start at Occidental and are looking forward to working on early season leg speed racing," continued Guarino. "The 1500's are always exciting."
