More Personal Bests Turned in by Toreros at Steve Scott Invite

IRVINE, Calif. – The San Diego women's track middle-distance group turned in a strong weekend at the Steve Scott Invitational at Anteater Stadium, highlighted by multiple personal-best performances and two top-10 marks in program history.

"We are also excited to see the development of the new freshmen mid-distance runners as they continue to grow and blossom," said head coach Will Guarino.
 

In the 800 meters, juniro Lilly Dow continued her strong from winning her heat in 2:15.23, a personal best that ranks No. 7 all-time at San Diego. Scarlett Laurent also recorded a personal best, finishing fifth in her section in 2:18.27. Talya Sepand added a personal-best effort of 2:18.49 to place second in her heat.

"Loved seeing the growth of Lily Dow as she not only won her heat, but she also got a great start in the 800m, and powered in with 200m to go to seal the win," Guarino said.
 

Molly Stewart posted a season-best 2:21.01, while Cara Kurry (2:20.53) and Olivia Gaspar (2:25.49) added depth across multiple sections.
 

In the 1,500 meters, Sydney Tackett led the Toreros with a time of 4:50.64. Lizzie McVey followed closely with a season-best 4:50.73, and Nathalie Green finished in 4:53.42. Ashleigh Schein recorded a personal-best 4:57.33, while Allison Kirby (5:00.91), Camryn Kozak (5:03.37) and Amy O'Connell (5:21.03) rounded out the field.
 

San Diego closed the meet with a third-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, as the team of Dow, Sepand, Gaspar and Curry clocked 4:02.79, the No. 3 performance in program history, one meet after setting the program record in the event at the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 17.

USD takes back to the Azusa Pacific Track for the second time this season for the Franson Last Chance Meet, taking place from Thursday through Saturday, May 7-9, the final opportunity for Toreros to post qualifying times for NCAA Regionals, May 27-30 in Fayetville, Ark.
