AZUSA, Calif. — The San Diego women's track and field team wrapped up its outdoor season at the APU Franson Last Chance Meet at Azusa Pacific Track on Friday and Saturday, capping the year with a school record and strong distance performances overall.
The headline of the weekend came Saturday in the 400 meters, where junior Lilly Dow blazed to a 57.38 — a school record in the event and the second program record she has been a part of this season, joining her contributions to the 4x400 relay that broke the school mark at 4:00.60 at the Leopard Invitational in April. Dow placed 15th overall in a competitive field to close her individual season in historic fashion.
The Toreros also fielded a 4x400-meter relay Saturday, with Dow, sophomore Olivia Gaspar, junior Kara Curry and sophomore Talya Sepand combining for a sixth-place finish in 4:04.10. Freshman Molly Stewart and Gaspar also contested the 400 individually, placing 33rd (1:01.19) and 36th (1:02.44), respectively.
Friday's action opened with a deep Torero showing in the 800 meters. Dow led the way with a 2:15.50 for 32nd overall, followed by Sepand (46th, 2:18.75), Stewart (48th, 2:19.27) and sophomore Ashleigh Schein (57th, 2:21.04). Freshman Scarlett Laurent (65th, 2:25.30), junior Camryn Kozak (67th, 2:25.80), junior Lizzie McVey (70th, 2:26.55), Gaspar (73rd, 2:28.21) and Curry (74th, 2:28.69) rounded out the event for San Diego.
In the 5,000 meters Friday, freshman Sydney Tackett led the Toreros with a 24th-place finish in 17:36.04, and junior Nathalie Green followed in 40th at 18:26.27.
Saturday's 1500 meters saw Laurent return to the track, placing 60th in 4:55.99. Freshman Allison Kirby also competed in her section, finishing 70th in 4:59.87.
No Toreros posted a qualifying time for the NCAA West Regional Championships, marking the conclusion of the 2026 USD track season.
