SAN DIEGO – San Diego enters a week of three games in five days, including a home matchup against Fresno State on Tuesday followed by a two-game road swing through the Mountain Time Zone on Thursday (Weber State) and Saturday (Colorado).
The Toreros are 0-2 to start the season following this past Saturday's loss on the road at Long Beach State. USD has posted strong first halves in each of its two games, but opponents have pulled away in the final minutes to deal the Toreros their first 0-2 start in three years.
Fresno State has split its first two games, with the win coming on a buzzer beater against Winthrop on Sunday (77-74) preceding a loss to No. 15/14 Oregon in the opener (57-71).
Weber State lost its season opener to Utah State on November 8 and will not play before hosting San Diego on Thursday (6 p.m. PT). Colorado, meanwhile, captured its season opener over Arizona State in a game played in China on November 8.
Tuesday's game can be seen on the WCC Network and Stadium, with the Voice of the Toreros Jack Cronin on the call. Live stats are also available. Both road games will feature live audio streaming on the Toreros' website.
LAST TIME OUT: TURNOVERS HURT TOREROS IN 74-62 LOSS AT LONG BEACH STATE
- San Diego turned the ball over 29 times on Saturday at Long Beach State and lost its road opener, 74-62, at the Walter Pyramid. The Beach scored 30 of their 74 points off the USD turnovers, which fell one shy of the school record. Despite the mistakes, the Toreros trailed by three at halftime, 37-34, as they had seven of the eight players distribute the points. They even trailed by as little as one with 15:50 remaining when Jared Rodriguez scored two of his 11 points, but Long Beach State went on an 11-0 run to extend the lead into double digits. A dunk by James Jean-Marie with five minutes remaining made the deficit single digits again and the Beach did not make a field goal over the final four minutes, but the Toreros could not climb any closer than 10 to finish out the game. USD out-rebounded LBSU, 38-35, but the Beach outscored the Toreros in the paint, 32-24. Joey Calcaterra led USD with 20 points.

- The Toreros' last win against the Bulldogs occurred on December 10, 2005, a 72-61 win in the San Diego Slam tournament at Cox Arena (now known as Viejas Arena on SDSU's campus).
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST WEBER STATE
- Thursday's matchup will be the sixth all-time matchup between USD and Weber State. The Toreros won the last meeting, a 83-66 win in November 2018 but trail in the series, 2-3.
ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST COLORADO
- Saturday will be the seventh all-time matchup between San Diego and Colorado as the series stands at 3-3.

- Prior to this season, Calcaterra had 10+ points only twice in his career.
- At Long Beach State on Saturday, Calcaterra dropped in 20 points, a career-high. It was the first 20-point effort by a Torero since March 11, 2019 when Isaiah Wright scored 22 in a 69-62 loss against Saint Mary's in the WCC Tournament.
- Calcaterra is averaging 16.0 points per game this season in 33.5 minutes. Last year, he averaged 2.8 points in 12.4 minutes.
JARED'S ARRIVAL
- Redshirt sophomore Jared Rodriguez made his Torero debut last Saturday at Long Beach State, scoring 11 points and grabbing five rebounds in 26 minutes off the bench.
