STOCKTON, Calif. – No. 23 San Diego men's soccer surrendered three first-half goals to help deal it a 4-2 loss at Pacific on Saturday at Knoles Field.
The Toreros (10-5-1, 1-4 WCC), who suffered their fourth straight defeat and second road loss of the year, allowed goals in the fourth and 11th minutes to quickly find themselves in a two-goal deficit before ceding a third and deciding goal in the 24th minute.
Aidan Marmion (50') and
Miguel Berry (77') scored for USD, but Pacific (5-9-1, 2-3 WCC) had established a big enough lead in the first 25 minutes of the evening. Mathias Saether tallied the fourth and final goal for the Tigers in the 62nd minute.
The goal by Berry, on a penalty kick, was his team-leading 14th of the season. He is now tied for seventh in USD history for most goals in a single season. The senior's 35 points, meanwhile, are eighth-best in program history.
Marmion's goal was his first of the season.
The Toreros out-shot the Tigers, 10-7, but Pacific had six of their shots on goal while USD had five. Nine of the 10 San Diego shots were registered in the second half.
San Diego returns home for its next match on Saturday, November 9 against Portland at 7 p.m.
