SAN DIEGO – San Diego's
Dalton Kincaid was selected as one of three tight ends to the Associated Press FCS All-America Team, the organization announced. The sophomore was named to the third team.
Kincaid, who is only the second tight end in program history to earn All-America honors, was top-two among FCS tight ends in several major receiving categories, including yards per catch (1st, 18.98; 21st overall), receiving yards (2nd, 835), and receiving yards per game (2nd, 69.6). The Las Vegas product, who had four 100-yard games, finished the season with 44 receptions, 835 yards and eight touchdowns in 12 contests.
Kincaid joins current NFL player
Ross Dwelley as the two All-American tight ends in Torero history. Dwelley was tabbed a third team All-American by STATS FCS in 2017.
One of the best pass-catching tight ends in the FCS since he arrived at USD, Kincaid has hauled in 68 catches in his two-year career, totaling 1,209 yards and 19 touchdowns. He is averaging 17.8 yards per catch in the last two seasons and is already 11th in school history for career receiving touchdowns.
This is the fourth straight year a Torero has earned All-American honors from the Associated Press. Last year, wide receiver
Michael Bandy (first team) and offensive lineman
Daniel Cooney (second team) were selected.
Kincaid is the ninth different Torero this decade to earn an All-American selection from any organization. The nine have combined for 21 All-American selections since 2010.
STATS FCS and AFCA will announce its All-Americans on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
