SAN DIEGO—Three Toreros reached double-digit scoring but San Diego was undone by Pacific's late offensive surge in a 70-53 loss on Thursday evening in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

On a night dedicated to National Girls and Women in Sports Day, the Toreros (8-15, 1-11 WCC) shot 50 percent on 22-of-44 from the field and disrupted the Tigers (15-7, 8-4 WCC) offense all night. However, Pacific put together a strong second half and outscored USD 29-15 down the stretch to secure the win.Â

Leticia Soares scored a team-high 13 points, while
Kiera Oakry added 11 points and four assists for the Toreros.
Madison Pollock finished the night with 10 points and led the team with 7 rebounds.

Patricia Brossmann and
Sydney Shepard chipped in eight and seven points respectively and Brossmann added five rebounds while Shepard paced San Diego with five assists.

After the Tigers took an early 18-10 lead to start the contest, the Toreros closed out the first quarter on a 9-0 run to pull ahead, 19-18, at the break.Â

Oakry scored the majority of her points in the second quarter, recording seven for USD in the period. The Toreros extended their lead to four before Pacific answered with a 9-0 run of their own late in the period to lead San Diego, 37-32, at the half.

Sydney Hunter hit back-to-back layups early in the third to pull the Toreros back within three, but the Tigers began to find their rhythm and closed the quarter on a 9-2 run to build a comfortable 12-point lead, 54-42.

Soares came alive offensively to begin the fourth period. USD forced timely turnovers and the junior center scored seven consecutive points to bring the deficit back to single digits, 57-49, with 7:23 to go. The Tigers answered with a timely three-pointer and closed out the game on a 13-4 run to secure the win.
