SAN DIEGO—Sydney Hunter scored a career-high 21 points as San Diego defeated San Francisco, 66-59, on Saturday afternoon in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

On a day dedicated to the Toreros' lone senior
Sydney Shepard, USD (9-20, 2-16 WCC) shot 43 percent and led the Dons (6-23, 2-16 WCC) from start to finish.

Hunter hit 7-of-9 from the field and 7-of-11 from the free throw line to lead San Diego and added seven rebounds, while
Leticia Soares and
Madison Pollock tallied 12 and 11 points respectively.Â

Patricia Brossmann and Shepard each chipped in eight points, while Brossmann added seven rebounds and a team-high three steals. On her senior day, Shepard went 2-for-6 from three-point range and led the team with seven assists.

The Toreros opened the contest on an 8-0 run, behind five points from Hunter. The Dons answered, pulling even at 10-10 with 2:21 remaining in the first quarter. USD score six straight points to end the period up, 16-10.

Oakry added six points in the second quarter and San Diego took a nine-point lead in to halftime, 30-21.Â

Shepard hit both of her 3-pointers in the third period and the Toreros extended their lead to as many as 15, outrebounding the Dons, 10-4. USF rallied in the fourth, outscoring USD 23-17 down the stretch but the Toreros held on for the win to conclude the regular season.

The Toreros will now look towards the WCC Tournament beginning Thursday at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.
