SAN DIEGO – No. 36 San Diego won its seventh straight match and advanced to the USD Spring Classic final with a 4-1 victory against No. 50 Princeton on Saturday morning at the Hogan Tennis Center.

The Toreros (13-3) won four straight singles matches to secure the win and move on to the final against No. 49 Tulane on Sunday at 10 a.m. PT.

"We competed very well today to beat a young, talented Princeton squad," said head coach
Ryan Keckley. "We put in a lot of work for that win and I was really pleased with our level overall. We have been match-tough all year long but we really started to strike the ball with a lot of confidence this week."

USD fell behind 1-0 after dropping the doubles point.
August Holmgren and
Joel Gamerov, ranked 46th nationally, defeated Damian Rodriguez and Karl Poling, 6-3, at No. 2 but the Tigers (16-5) earned wins at No. 1 and No. 3 to secure the doubles point.

The Toreros found their rhythm in singles play. No. 67
Gui Osorio leveled the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-1, victory against Ryan Seggerman at No. 1.

Nico Borter followed shortly after with a win at No. 3, defeating Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-3, to put USD up, 2-1.

Guus Koevermans put USD up 3-1 by defeating Will Peters at No. 6, 6-3, 6-4.

August Holmgren capped the victory with a 6-4, 6-4, victory at No. 2 against Karl Poling.

"We are extremely excited to be playing for the championship match tomorrow," said Keckley. "This was one of our goals at the beginning of the year and we will do everything we can Sunday to give ourselves the best chance for success. We will have to bring all we have against Tulane as they are a tough, well-coached unit. We are expecting a battle."
