WCC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
• USD is 7-10 in the WCC Tournament since the competition moved to the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, during the 2008-09 season. The Toreros lost six straight WCC Tournament games before beating Portland this past Thursday night.

• Prior to the win against the Pilots, the Toreros most recent victory in the WCC Tournament came on March 8, 2013, when they defeated BYU 72-69 in the quarterfinals. USD's all-time leading scorer, Johnny Dee, dropped 25 points in the win.

• USD beat Pepperdine, 62-59, the night before its win against BYU in its first game of the postseason. The Toreros gave Saint Mary's all it could handle in the semifinals but fell 69-66.

• The Toreros most recently won the WCC Tournament title during the 2007-08 season. It was the last year the tournament was hosted at a conference institution and USD won the tournament on its home floor in San Diego, defeating No. 20 Gonzaga, 69-62. USD received the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament and beat Connecticut 70-69 on a buzzer beater in the first round in Tampa, Florida.

THE ROAD AHEAD
• USD's path to the WCC Tournament title would require five victories in six days. The Toreros path to the championship game began with 10th-seeded Portland (W, 67-47), and is followed by No. 6 Santa Clara (W, 62-45), No. 3 BYU and No. 2 Saint Mary's.

• The Toreros went 2-0 against the Pilots during the regular season but will be seeking revenge against the rest of the bracket, holding a combined 0-5 regular-season record against the rest of their side of the bracket.

LAST TIME OUT
• Isaiah Wright scored a game-high 23 points and San Diego delivered its best defensive performance of the season to earn a 62-45 victory against Santa Clara this past Friday in the second round of the WCC Tournament at the Orleans Arena.

• The victory secured the Toreros second consecutive 20-win season – the first time the program has accomplished the feat since moving to Division-I during the 1979-80 season.

• USD advanced behind an elite defensive performance. The Toreros allowed a season-low 45 points and limited the Broncos (16-15) to just 16 points in the first half – the fewest points allowed by USD in a single half this season.

• USD did not allow a Santa Clara field goal for the first 8:29 of the game and held the Broncos to 28 percent shooting from the field on the night.

• Wright exploded offensively in the second half, producing 22 of his 23 points in the second period. He was efficient, going 8-of-11 from the field, 4-of-6 from 3-point range and knocking down three free throws. Wright also tied his season high of eight assists and pulled down six rebounds.

• Isaiah Pineiro also hit double-digits in scoring with 15 points and was one rebound shy of what would have been his sixth consecutive double-double. He has scored in double-digits in every game this season.

• Tyler Williams had an excellent game on both ends of the floor, knocking down a trio of threes, dishing out two assists and playing well on the defensive end.

• Finn Sullivan provided valuable minutes off the bench, producing five points and grabbing five boards in 13 minutes.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS. BYU
• USD is 5-15 all-time against the Cougars and have dropped the last three meetings.

• Isaiah Wright scored 19 points and San Diego mounted a late run but could not complete the comeback, falling at BYU 87-73 last Saturday night at the Marriott Center.

• The Toreros dropped a heartbreaking 88-82 decision at home in the first game this year on Feb. 14. USD led nearly the entire game and held a 14-point lead with 16:06 to play but needed a last-second layup by Isaiah Wright to send the game to overtime.

• The Cougars took over in the extra period, connecting on 4-of-5 shots from the field while the Toreros went 0-for-3. USD's only points in overtime came at the free throw line, hitting 7-of-8 attempts. It was a tough defeat for the Toreros, which led for 35:18 of the game and shot 52 percent from the field.
