The Toreros (25-19, 9-11 WCC) held a 2-0 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh inning before the Gaels (25-16, 10-7 WCC) put up five runs to take the lead and ultimately the game two victory.
It was a pitching duel early on, with both teams combining for five total hits through the first four innings. USD was able to break through first with an RBI double by
Stephen Dubb in the top of the fourth, scoring
Jeff Houghtby from first base.
San Diego added another run in the sixth when

Ripken Reyes was hit by a pitch to put two runners on with one out.
Houghtby doubled into the right field corner to score McGuire, however the next two Toreros were retired in order to halt the rally. SMC added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run to secure the series win over USD.
