SAN FRANCISCO – No. 22-ranked Solymar Colling bounced back from her Round of 16 exit by winning the women's singles consolation bracket of the Battle in the Bay with a 6-0, 3-6, 1-0 (7) victory over Wisconsin's Charmaine Seah.
Colling, who was the tournament's No. 1 seed, fought her way through the lower bracket on Sunday by first defeating Abby Amos of Arizona in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 before taking down Seah in the consolation finals.
In total, the Toreros won four matches in the tournament, one of which came at the hands of freshman Elizabeth Goldsmith with her 6-2, 6-0 defeat of USC's Payton Saca on Friday.
The other six Torero women's tennis players will have their fall opener at the Cal Berkeley Invitational Friday, September 27.
