PROVO, Utah -- Patricia Brossmann pulled down 10 rebounds and
Myah Pace added 10 more, but San Diego (8-8, 2-3 WCC) fell to BYU (8-7, 3-2 WCC) 52-36 on the road on Saturday afternoon.

Brossmann and Pace's fantastic rebounding performances led the Toreros in the contest. Brossmann tacked on two points, and Pace added six points, three assists, and three steals.
Jordyn Edwards also helped out with nine points, nine rebounds, four assists and three steals.

San Diego grabbed 43 rebounds in Saturday's game compared to BYU's 37, led by Brossmann and Pace. The Toreros also cleaned up the offensive glass, turning 19 rebounds into 11 second chance points.

The San Diego defense was effective at taking away the basketball, forcing 21 BYU turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 16 points on the other end of the floor. Edwards' three steals led the way individually for the Toreros.

Despite the stellar performances off the glass and on the defensive end of the floor, San Diego's offense struggled to find its rhythm shooting only 18.6 percent from the floor in Saturday's contest.

San Diego started off strong, putting together a 12-10 lead heading into the second quarter after capitalizing off five BYU turnovers. The offense continued to battle it out in the second period, entering halftime trailing by two, 26-24.

USD's deficit continued to grow after halftime as the Cougars' outshot the Toreros 26-12 in the second half.

The Toreros kept it close in the third facing only a six-point deficit heading into the final 10 minutes. San Diego found opportunities in the paint, scoring four of its seven points near the basket.

The fourth quarter highlighted San Diego's offensive woes as the Toreros faced an eight-minute scoring drought. Three of the Toreros five points in the quarter came from the free throw line as Edwards and Pace found their way to the charity stripe. San Diego couldn't pull any closer in the fourth, losing by a final of 52-36.

The Toreros will look to bounce back on Thursday as they face St. Mary's on the road at 6:30 p.m. (PT).
