SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Toreros (12-9, 6-4 WCC) fell short in a 57-46 loss to No. 12 Gonzaga (21-1, 10-0 WCC) on the road on Thursday night.

The Toreros had two players score in double figures, led by
Jordyn Edwards, who had 13 points and three steals.
Myah Pace added 11 points and two steals, while
Sydney Hunter tacked on nine points and three steals on the evening.

Madison Pollock's three offensive rebounds, San Diego did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 12 boards for six second chance points.

Patricia Brossmann hit a new career milestone in Thursday's contest, pulling down four rebounds to now rank 10th all-time in career boards. She is the first member of the 2019-20 squad to be ranked in San Diego's career record books.

The San Diego defense was efficient in the contest, forcing 24 Gonzaga turnovers. Those takeaways turned into 20 points on the other end of the floor as Pollock led the way individually for the Toreros with four steals.

Pace hit two back-to-back jumpers for USD to open the third quarter as San Diego struggled to close the gap after halftime facing a 47-33 disadvantage heading into the fourth quarter. The Toreros played well near the basket, scoring eight of their 15 points in the paint.

San Diego narrowed its deficit to seven off a three-pointer from Edwards with four minutes to go in the fourth quarter. The Toreros couldn't get over the hump in the final minutes, losing 57-46. San Diego took advantage of its opportunities in the post, scoring 10 of its 13 points in the paint.
