SAN DIEGO - San Diego women's tennis maintained its undefeated status at home after it notched a 4-1 win over Long Beach State on Thursday afternoon at the Hogan Tennis Center.

USD (4-3), which improved to 3-0 at home, got off to a strong start after earning the doubles point for the second time in the last three matches and then picked up singles wins in straight sets at No. 1, 5 and 6. 

"We played with more confidence today," said USD head coach Sherri Stephens, "I'm very happy with the win."

After the Beach claimed the first doubles victory at No. 2, Kati Kukaras and Elizabeth Goldsmith proved a strong pair for the Toreros as they swiftly defeated LBSU's Sadaf Sadeghvaziri and Lalita Devarakonda 6-1 at No. 3. Solymar Colling and Helena Francati overcame a 4-2 deficit in their match at No. 1 and roared back to edge out Natalia Munoz and Zara Lennon 7-5 to clinch the doubles point.

In singles, #59 Colling expertly navigated Munoz at the No.1 position, dominating both sets, 6-2, 6-1. 

Redshirt junior Maria Tyrina was successful in singles as well, defeating Zara Lennon 6-2, 6-3. 

Kukaras, in the No. 6 position, won 6-2, 6-3, and was the deciding match again after she previously pulled out the win over Hawaii this past Sunday.

Freshman Elizabeth Goldsmith, fresh off her first weekly ITA ranking appearance at No. 124, was up 6-4, 4-4 when the dual match concluded due to the Toreros clinching.

The Toreros continue their stretch of six consecutive home matches this Saturday when they host USC at 1 p.m.
