SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- The Toreros (17-10, 11-5 WCC) shot 45 percent from deep, but a third quarter surge by Santa Clara (10-17, 4-12 WCC) led to a 78-66 loss on the road on Saturday afternoon.

San Diego had three players score in double figures, led by
Sydney Hunter, who had 16 points and two steals.
Leticia Soares added 13 points and six rebounds off the bench and
Jordyn Edwards chipped in as well with 11 points.

The Broncos jumped on San Diego early in the third, creating a three-point lead with under six minutes to go in the quarter. The Toreros struggled offensively in the quarter shooting only 20 percent from the field as San Diego lost its advantage and trailed the Broncos 53-46 entering the fourth.

The Toreros couldn't pull any closer in the fourth, despite adding 20 points to the scoreboard. San Diego took advantage of its opportunities in the post in the period, scoring half of its points in the paint.
