PALM DESERT, Calif. – Harrison Kingsley shot a 2-under in the final round of the Wyoming Desert Classic as San Diego finished the tournament with its best day by shooting 9-over 299 on Sunday at the Classic Club (Par 72, 7,305 yards).
For the tournament, the Toreros finished 19th in their first test of the spring season with a 39-over 903 (299-307-297).
Kingsley rebounded from his first two rounds by carding six birdies on Sunday to shoot the team-best 70. The sophomore finished tied for 53rd with a 6-over 222 (74-78-70) as he was the highest Torero finisher in the individual standings.
Freshmen
Alrik Pan and
Joshua Hu, who paced the Toreros in the first two days, each shot a 3-over 75 in the final round. Pan finished the tournament with an 8-over 224 (75-74-75) while Hu was 13-over 229 (73-81-75).
Donald Kay (14-over 230) and
Yash Majmudar (25-over 241) rounded out the Toreros' scoring.
Kyle Bachelor, in his first official action as a Torero, competed as an individual and had a 14-over 230 (78-76-76) to finish tied for 92nd.
Auburn, ranked 19th in the country, won the tournament with a 22-under 842 (280-283-279). Wyoming's Tyler Severin and his 9-under 207 (70-71-66) won the individual medal.
The Toreros return to the course on March 9-10 with the Lamkin Invitational at the San Diego Country Club in Chula Vista.
