Dylan Thompson propelled the San Diego men's soccer team (2-13, 1-4 WCC) past San Francisco (2-10-1, 0-4-1 WCC) on Sunday, 2-1.
The Dons took an early lead, but San Diego tied the game in the 41
st minute on a goal from
Ross Johnstone.
Nicklas Clausen and
Owen Wiebe added assists on the play.
Clausen later headed a ball across to Thompson in the second half, and the Toreros scored the go-ahead goal.
USD improves to 2-13 (1-4 WCC) on the season, and will host Pacific next Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- San Francisco got on the board first in the 15th minute, bending in a ball to the far post from just outside of the 18.
- San Diego got the equalizer late in the first half. Clausen played a ball across the field to Wiebe, who crossed it into Johnstone for the header.
- In the 61st minute, Clausen headed a ball down to Thompson, who found the back of the net on a one-touch volley.
