Leading for over 38 minutes, San Diego defeated UIC on day two of the Las Vegas Classic, 64-52.
Marcellus Earlington led the Toreros with 14 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the floor. He added six rebounds and a block in 21 minutes.
Joey Calcaterra poured in 13 points in the win, drilling 5-of-7 shots to go along with a career-high eight rebounds.
Vladimir Pinchuk filled the stat sheet with eight points, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
SCOUTING THE MATADORS
After dropping the first three games of the season to USC, Notre Dame, and Eastern Washington, CSUN earned back-to-back wins over Dixie State and St. Katherine. Eight different players average at least 5.7 points, led by senior guard Elijah Hardy (9.6), sophomore guard Atin Wright (9.0), and senior forward Onyi Eyisi (8.8).
