Toreros with a Big Win Against Hawai'i in Home Opener

San Diego beats Hawaii 86-53 in the season opener.

Box Score SAN DIEGOThe Toreros (1-0) are off to a strong start this season with a huge win against Hawai'i (0-1) at the Jenny Craig Pavilion on Tuesday night. This victory serves as the first win of the season. 

The Toreros had three players score double digits, Erica Martinsen with a career high of 18 points, Kiera Oakry with 12 points, and Sydney Hunter with 10. San Diego's offensive efforts across the team were strong with a shooting average of 51.5 percent from the field and 64.3 percent from the free-throw line. The Toreros made eight three-pointers, five of which were from shooting powerhouse Erica Martinsen, and Kiera Oakry with three. The team shared the ball well at Tuesday's night game, racking up 23 assists on 34 made field goals. 

San Diego's defense did not let up with 33 total rebounds, 17 steals, and three blocks. Kasey Neubert led the Toreros with six rebounds, followed by Myah Pace and Kylie Horstmeyer with five each and Sydney Hunter with four. Erica Martinsen and Myah Pace led the Toreros with four steals each followed by Sydney Hunter and Kiera Oakry with three each.
