SAN DIEGO—The Toreros return to San Diego for a match up against Texas State on Tuesday, December 21 at 2 PM in the Jenny Craig Pavilion. Coming off a 74-58 well-fought loss, the Toreros are eager to secure a win at home.

THE BREAKDOWN
The Toreros lost to Texas after battling hard for four quarters on Sunday, December 19. Kiera Oakry was the Toreros' leading scorer with 16 points, followed by Laura Erikstrup with nine. The team maintained a strong offense throughout the game with 26 points in the paint, 26 points off the bench, and 14 assists. 

On defense, the Toreros protected the rim with 29 total rebounds and forced turnovers on Texas. Kasey Neubert led the team in total rebounds with nine followed by Sydney Hunter with five. Hunter's gritty defense resulted in five total steals and contributed to San Diego's 12 total steals. 

The Toreros are 7-4 (0-0 WCC) ahead of Tuesday's matchup against the Bobcats 5-6 (0-0 Sun Belt Conference). This is the second time the teams will match up. 
  
ALL-TIME SERIES
San Diego holds a 0-1 all time record against Texas State. Their only match up took place in 1994 and resulted in a 67-54 loss under head coach Kathy Marpe.
 
UP NEXT
The Toreros will travel to Provo, UT to take on BYU on Thursday, December 30 at 7 p.m. PT in the Marriott Center. San Diego holds a 8-15 all-time record against BYU with a winning streak of two. Their last match up took place on January 4, 2021 and resulted in a 58-56 win under head coach Cindy Fisher.
