Toreros Fall Versus Bruins

San Diego fights hard versus one of nation's best

SAN DIEGO - San Diego (1-1) was defeated by the No. 3 UCLA Bruins (5-1) at the Skip and Cindy Hogan Center by a final of 7-0 on Saturday afternoon. 

The Toreros fell behind in doubles play when the pairing of Kati Kukaras and Maria Tyrina were defeated 6-3. UCLA clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory over Jordyn McBride and Abigail Desiatnikov.  

In singles play, the Toreros fought hard but ultimately came up short in five of six matches. 

Solymar Colling lost in the No. 1 position 6-4, 6-3 and McBride was defeated in the No. 3 position 6-2, 6-3. 

UCLA clinched the win with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Kukaras. 

The Toreros will be back in action on Feb. 20 when they travel up to Los Angeles, Calif. to take on USC.
