SAN DIEGO—No. 18 San Diego will begin a stretch of four matches in five days when it travels to Santa Clara and Gonzaga for two conference series this week.

The Toreros (4-0, 4-0 WCC) will face the Broncos (0-0, 0-0 WCC) on Tuesday (1 p.m. PT) and Wednesday (2 p.m. PT). USD will then travel to face the Bulldogs (2-3, 2-3 WCC) on Friday and Saturday with both matches slated for 12 p.m. PT. The matches with GU were originally scheduled for earlier this season, but had to be rescheduled due to COVID-19 protocols.

LAST TIME OUT
• The Toreros swept their series with Portland on Wednesday and Thursday, taking the first match 3-1 and the second 3-0 in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

• On Wednesday, the Toreros took the first match with the Pilots, 25-15, 28-30, 25-14, 25-14.
Roxie Wiblin matched her career-high with 20 kills and
Thana Fayad and
Grace Frohling added 15 and 11 kills respectively.

• Wiblin notched her second double-double of the season with 14 digs and Fayad also added 14 digs for her first double-double of the year.
Laura Madill recorded a career-high 49 assists and tallied 13 digs in the contest.

• USD finished the night with 71 digs, led by
Camryn Tastad with 19—a new career high. The Toreros also recorded eight team blocks, led by
Lauren Turner and
Elly Schraeder with four blocks each.

• In the second match, the Toreros swept the Pilots in dominating fashion, 25-9, 25-17, 25-10. USD hit .341 and collected 11 team blocks for a balanced effort, with two players reaching double-digit kills.

• Fayad led the offense with 14 kills, while Frohling notched her second double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs. Tastad led USD in the back court with 12 digs while Schraeder paced USD defensively at the net with six blocks. Frohling and Turner both added five blocks in the contest.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST SANTA CLARA
• Tuesday will be the 72nd meeting between the Toreros and the Broncos. USD leads the all-time series 39-32 and swept the series last season 3-0 in both matchups.

• The teams first met during the 1983 season and San Diego holds a 10-match winning streak dating back to Nov. 1, 2014 when SCU took home a 3-2 victory in the JCP.

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST GONZAGA
• Friday will be the 65th meeting between the Toreros and the Bulldogs. San Diego leads the all-time series 55-9 and swept the series last season 3-0 in both matchups.

• The teams first met during the 1987 season. GU's last win came on Sept. 30, 1994, a 3-1 victory in Spokane, Wash.

• San Diego came in at No. 18 in the AVCA Weekly Coaches Poll for week four, after being ranked No. 20 the previous week.

• The Toreros appeared at No. 23 in the AVCA Preseason Coaches Poll and have since moved up five spots in week four of the season rankings.

• The Toreros have appeared in the national top-25 poll for 23 consecutive seasons, with 22 top-10 appearances. USD's highest ranking was No. 2 overall (Sept. 16, 2013).

• After its four-match road trip, San Diego will return home to the JCP for a series with San Francisco, set for Tuesday, Feb. 23 and Wednesday, Feb. 24.

WIBLIN EARNS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WEEK THREE

Roxie Wiblin was named the WCC Player of the Week (Feb. 15) for week three after collecting two double-doubles and leading USD's offense to three victories to start the season.

• The senior outside hitter averaged 5.10 kills per set, 3.40 digs per set and added six aces and three blocks for 58.5 points. Wiblin also matched her career-high with 20 kills and set a new career-high 23 points in a 3-1 victory over Portland on Feb. 10.

HOT START FOR WIBLIN
•Â
Roxie Wiblin came out of the gate swinging to begin her senior campaign. The 6-2 outside hitter led the team in kills in both matches against Saint Mary's, and matched her career-high with 20 kills in the opening match against Portland. Wiblin has also notched a pair of double-doubles in the young season.

• Wiblin is hitting at a .320 clip and averaging 4.46 kills per set to start the season which ranks second in the WCC and 25th nationally.

MADILL LEADING THE CHARGE
• Junior setter
Laura Madill has directed the offense to a .314 clip in her debut as the starting setter for USD, ranking first in the WCC and ninth in the country.

• USD is averaging 14.69 kills per set in its first four matches, ranking first in the conference and 11th in the NCAA. Madill is also averaging 11.85 assists per set which ranks first in the conference and sixth nationally.

DOMINATING DEFENSE
• The Toreros rank first in the WCC (51st nationally) in blocks per set with 2.46 and third in the conference (50th nationally) in digs per set with 17.00. USD has held its opponents to a .100 hitting percentage which ranks first in the WCC and 13th in the country.

• Freshman middle blocker
Elly Schraeder is leading the charge at the net, averaging 1.38 blocks per set to rank first in the WCC and 37th in the NCAA.
Lauren Turner also ranks in the top five in the conference with 1.08 blocks per set.
