LAST TIME OUT
San Diego announced a pause to competition on Feb. 2, due to a positive COVID-19 test result within the USD program. The Toreros returned to the gym for full team practices on Feb. 16.

In their final contest before the program pause, the Toreros put together a good showing in the first half of Thursday night's contest against No. 1 Gonzaga, but the Bulldogs' high-powered offense proved too much for USD in a 90-62 loss in the JCP.

USD had three players score double figures, led by Finn Sullivan who finished with 16 points, six assists and two steals. Ben Pyle added a season-high 12 points and three steals and Vladimir Pinchuk chipped in as well with 11 points.

Yavuz Gultekin saw his first minutes since USD's season opener on Dec. 9, and finished with nine points and led the team with five rebounds. Pinchuk also finished with five boards.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH SANTA CLARA
Thursday will be the 90th meeting between the Toreros and the Broncos. USD trails the all-time series with SCU, 38-51, and fell in the earlier matchup this season, 69-63. Vladimir Pinchuk paced the Toreros in the contest, recording 19 points and 11 rebounds for USD's first double-double of the season. Finn Sullivan and Jared Rodriguez added 13 and 11 point respectively in the contest.

The teams first met during the 1963-64 season and the Broncos have won five of the last six meetings. USD only win during that time came during the second round of the 2018-19 WCC Tournament with a 62-45 victory.

ALL-TIME SERIES WITH GONZAGA
Saturday is the 98th all-time meeting between USD and Gonzaga. The Toreros trail the Bulldogs in the all-time series, 21-76. USD fell to Gonzaga in the first meeting this season, 90-62. Finn Sullivan led the charge offensively for the Toreros, recording 16 points while Ben Pyle and Vladimir Pinchuk added 12 and 11 points respectively.

The teams first met during the 1979-80 season and Gonzaga currently holds 13-game win streak. USD last victory over the Bulldogs came on Feb. 22, 2014, a 69-66 win in the Jenny Craig Pavilion.

LOOKING AHEAD
The Toreros will close out the regular season with a busy week at home in the JCP. USD will play host to Pacific on Tuesday (Feb. 23), Portland on Thursday (Feb. 25) and celebrate its seniors on Saturday (Feb. 27) prior to the regular season finale against Pepperdine.
