SAN DIEGO - San Diego softball (0-2) fell on opening day to its cross-town rival SDSU (2-0) in double header action on Wednesday.

GAME ONE
The Toreros struggled to gain momentum in game one as the Aztecs shutout San Diego 8-0 in seven innings.

Freshman
Katlin Entrup (0-1) got the ball to start for San Diego and took the loss. The right-hander went 3.1 innings, giving up six runs with only one earned on three hits. Entrup allowed only two walks and struck out two in her collegiate debut.

In the batter's box, the Toreros were paced by freshman
Amanda Limon, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a triple. Limon looked to spark San Diego in the bottom of the third with a lead off triple but was stranded.

San Diego managed one chance with runners on third in the shutout, going a total of 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position. San Diego looked to shift the momentum again in the fifth when junior
Rion Simms made it 60 feet away from scoring with two outs.

GAME TWO
San Diego looked to rally in game two, as
Madison Earnshaw (0-1) took to the circle for the Toreros and held the Aztecs to one.

The veteran was impressive in the circle, going all seven innings and giving up one run on five hits, allowing only two walks and striking out three.
Â
The defense was the brightspot in game two as Limon and Simms came up big in the infield with multiple diving plays to hold the Aztecs off the board with runners in scoring position.

Offensively, the Toreros were led by freshman
Sofia Delgado, who went 1-for-2 in the contest with a walk.
Â
The Toreros worked to string something together but were unable to push runners across, going 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position. San Diego fell 1-0 in the contest.

San Diego will look to rebound on Saturday, when the Toreros take on Grand Canyon at 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. (PT) inside the USD Softball Complex.
