SAN DIEGO - The Toreros (8-4, 5-2 WCC) jumped out to a 23-8 first-quarter lead and never trailed from there on the way to a 70-45 win over Pepperdine (3-12, 0-11 WCC) at home on Saturday afternoon.

Steph Gorman led the Toreros with 12 points, five assists and four steals. Redshirt senior
Jordyn Edwards tacked on six points, eight assists and two steals, and
Myah Pace chipped in as well with eight points and three steals.

San Diego shared the ball well in Saturday's game, racking up 23 assists on 27 made field goals. Edwards' eight assists paced the Toreros.

Kendall Bird led the way individually for the Toreros with three rejections to tie her all-time career best.

After falling behind 6-5 early in the first, the Toreros went on a 15-0 run with six minutes left in the first quarter, culminating in a three from Edwards, to take a 20-6 lead.
Erica Martinsen nailed a three to beat the quarter buzzer to give San Diego a 23-8 advantage. The Toreros came out hot from beyond the arc, as four threes accounted for 12 of 23 points in the period.

USD continued its offensive momentum into the second as six players tacked on points to create a 43-21 edge. San Diego made a season-high eight threes in the first half, shooting 72.7 percent from beyond the arc in two periods of play.

The Toreros continued to preserve their advantage going on a 16-0 run with under four minutes to go in the third quarter, capitalized by two made free throws from Gorman, to create a 59-23 advantage. Edwards found Blakes in the paint with 14 seconds to go in the period to give San Diego a 63-27 lead going into the fourth. San Diego played well near the basket, scoring 12 of its 20 points in the paint.

Laura Erikstrup highlighted the offensive performance in the fourth, scoring six of the team's seven points in the period. The Toreros cruised to victory with a final score of 70-45.
