SAN DIEGO - Sophia Bjerk has been named to the All-WCC preseason team, the conference announced Wednesday. This marks the second consecutive season Bjerk has been awarded preseason honors by the West Coast Conference.
 
During the shortened 2020 campaign, Bjerk made 20 starts for the Toreros and hit .310 on the season. She led the team in home runs, slugging percentage and triples.
 
The Puyallup, Wash. native put together a five-game hitting streak and five multi-RBI games, the most of any player in 2020. Bjerk ended the season with a walk-off single against CSUN on March 8 that would later go on to be the final contest of the 2020 season.
 
San Diego was selected to finish fourth in the 2021 Preseason Coaches Poll behind BYU, LMU and Pacific.
 
The coaches poll and preseason All-WCC team were selected solely by a vote of the conference's six head coaches. Coaches cannot vote for their own teams and student-athletes.
