San Diego Works Draw Against Pacific in Final Away Match

Toreros earn positive result in double overtime

STOCKTON, Calif. - San Diego women's soccer (1-7-1, 1-5-1 WCC) tied Pacfic (1-7-3, 1-5-2 WCC) 0-0 in double overtime on Saturday afternoon in Stockton, Calif.

The Toreros went the distance against Pacific in the final road game of the 2021 spring season. Before the match, seniors Katie Lapomarda, Mina Ghazizadeh and Sami Fairweather were honored as part of the Tigers' senior day festivities.

The Tigers came out firing, recording nine shots in the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Ellyn Casto continued her proficient season stopping all six shots on target before the break.

The Toreros started to get into a groove in the second half, recording seven shots. Jamie Goralski recorded four shots after the break to pace San Diego.

Lapomarda looked sharp in her return to the lineup. All three seniors recorded a shot on goal in the match. 

Pacific recorded three more shots on goal in the overtime periods, but Casto would not be denied her clean sheet. It was Casto's second shutout of the season. With 13 saves in the match overall, she now has a grand total of 63 on the season.

The Toreros will conclude the season with back-to-back home games. They will face San Francisco on Tuesday, April 13 at 1 p.m. (PT), before taking on No. 13 Santa Clara in the season finale on Saturday, April 17 at 1 p.m. (PT).
