SAN DIEGO—No. 21 San Diego is set to face Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the first round of the NCAA Tournament on Wednesday at 9 am PT in CHI Health Center in Omaha, Neb.

The Toreros (12-4) will make their 11th-straight NCAA Tournament appearance, 19th in the past 20 year and 23rd in the past 24 seasons. The winner of the match between USD and the Islanders (14-4) will face No. 11 seed Louisville who earned a bye in the opening round.

TOREROS IN THE NCAA TOURNAMENT
• It will be USD's 24th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time and 11th consecutive. The Toreros hold a tournament record of 18-23 and have advanced to the second round in four of the past five seasons.

• San Diego's best tournament finish is the Regional Semifinals, which it has accomplished four times (2004, 2006, 2013, 2018).

ALL-TIME SERIES AGAINST TEXAS A&M-CORPUS CHRISTI
• Wednesday will be the second all-time meeting between the Toreros and Islanders. The teams first met on Sept. 3, 2016 in Madison, Wisc., with USD taking the contest, 3-0.

• San Diego came in at No. 21 in the AVCA Weekly Coaches' Poll for the final pre-tournament rankings on April 5.

WIBLIN, FAYAD EARN ALL-REGION HONORS

Roxie Wiblin was named to the AVCA Pacific South All-Region Team after an outstanding senior season. Wiblin currently ranks 36th in the country with 4.22 kills per set and is hitting at a .295 clip. The senior outside hitter leads the team with 249 kills, adding 19 aces and 18 blocks for a team-high 279 points. She also leads the team with nine double-doubles, collecting 170 digs (2.88 d/s).

Thana Fayad earned AVCA Pacific South All-Region Honorable Mention after another dominant season for the Toreros. The fifth-year outside hitter has a team-best .317 hitting percentage and is averaging 3.30 kills per set. She finished the regular season with 156 kills and 114 digs, recording four double-doubles, adding 17 aces and 22 blocks for 193.5 points.

• It is the first all-region recognition for both players after earning All-WCC first team honors earlier this month.

FOUR TOREROS EARN WCC HONORS
• Three Toreros received All-WCC First Team recognition including
Thana Fayad,
Grace Frohling and
Roxie Wiblin. It was the second-straight first team award for Fayad and Frohling.
Katie Lukes also earned All-WCC Second Team honors for the second season in a row.

WIBLIN WORKING TOWARDS 1,000

Roxie Wiblin has appeared in every match on USD's schedule as a four-year starter for the Toreros. The senior outside hitter currently has 960 career kills, including 249 in the abbreviated 2020-21 season.

DOMINANT PINS
• The one-two punch of seniors Wiblin and Fayad on the outside has been a staple of USD's offense this season. Wiblin has led the team in kills in 13 of 16 matches, recording double-digit kills in all but one match. Fayad is right behind her tallying double-digit kills in 9 of 14 matches played, with a team-best .317 hitting percentage.

• Wiblin leads the team with nine double-doubles so far this season, while Fayad is second on the team with four. On their senior day, the two combined for 40 kills and 28 digs to defeat No. 20 Pepperdine, 3-1.

SHUT DOWN DEFENSE
• The Toreros rank second in the WCC (77th nationally) in blocks per set with 2.24 and USD has held its opponents to a .182 hitting percentage which ranks first in the WCC.

Annie Benbow leads the Toreros in the back court with 4.00 digs per set, while Wiblin and Fayad average 2.88 and 2.28 respectively. Middles

• San Diego has used seven different starting lineups this season, due to injury and COVID-19 protocols. The Toreros played their first six matches with eight available players and played their final two matches of the regular season without an available middle blocker. Outside hitters
