LOS ANGELES, Calif. - San Diego softball (10-21, 2-4 WCC) fell 2-0 to LMU (17-17, 5-1 WCC) in the series finale against the Lions on the road on Sunday afternoon.

The Toreros managed only three hits against the Lions in game three as USD left two runners on base in the contest.

Courtney Rose (1-7) earned the start in the circle and took the loss, going 4.1 innings with one unearned run on four hits and striking out two. Freshman McKenna Braeglemann and veteran
Madison Earnshaw came in in relief for the Toreros, allowing no earned runs in a combined 1.2 innings of work.

At the plate, freshman
Amanda Limon led the way going 1-for-1 with a sacrifice bunt.
Alexia Torculas continued her standout performance on the weekend hitting .500 in game three.

Game three quickly emerged as a pitchers' duel with both teams remaining scoreless through three innings. LMU stuck first in the bottom of the fourth as a throwing error by
Clareese Santiago allowed a runner to advance home.

The Toreros looked to rally in the top of the fifth as Torculas came through with a single down the left field line with two outs. San Diego's best chance to tie the game came in the top of the sixth as
Faith Hernandez was stranded 60 feet away.

Another error by the defense in the bottom of the sixth brought the insurance run home for LMU, creating a 2-0 advantage that would hold through the top of the seventh.

San Diego will be back in action on Friday, April 23 as the Toreros travel to Provo, Utah to take on WCC front-runner BYU.
