SAN DIEGO - San Diego men's tennis (7-9, 3-2 WCC) will head back on the road for the final time this season for a pair of matches against LMU (6-9, 3-3 WCC) on Friday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m. (PT) followed by No. 30 Pepperdine (13-5, 6-0 WCC) on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. (PT).
The Toreros are 17-0 against LMU in the all-time series and swept the Lions 4-0 at home last season. San Diego is 9-12 against Pepperdine and defeated the Waves 4-2 in Malibu in 2019.Â
Last time out, the Toreros defeated Santa Clara 4-1. After losing the doubles point, Garrett Kurtz tied the match at 1-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 win. August Holmgren put San Diego ahead with a 6-2, 6-4 win, his 12th of the year. Holmgren's efforts earned him WCC Player of the Week for the first time this season and the second time in his collegiate career.Â
Nico Borter put the Toreros on the verge of a win, and moments later, David Norfeldt clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-4 win on court three.Â
