Box Score SPOKANE, Wash. - San Diego men's soccer (3-2-2, 3-1-2 WCC) defeated Gonzaga (2-9, 0-6 WCC) 2-1 on Sunday morning in Spokane, Wash. Score check. 

Freshmen Michael Wilkerson and Owen Wiebe scored their first collegiate goals and junior goalkeeper Marley Mascarenas recorded 10 saves in the San Diego victory.

The Zags registered 12 shots in the first half, but could not beat Mascarenas. He recorded six saves in the first period.

The breakthrough for the Toreros came in the 32nd minute. Senior Pedro Andrade took a feed in the box and cut to his right before being fouled resulting in a penalty shot. Wilkerson stepped up to the penalty spot and finished cleanly to give San Diego a lead going into the half.

In the second half, Mascarenas continued to keep the Bulldogs off of the scoresheet with two huge saves coming in the 54th minute off of a Gonzaga corner. He saved the first effort before a second shot was fired at him. Mascarenas covered it up and kept the shutout alive.

The Zags tied things up in the 68th minute to make it one all. 

The Toreros scored the game-winner in the 84th minute. Freshman Nicklas Clausen played a nice little flick towards the endline that senior Ross Meldrum fired across goal onto the waiting foot of Wiebe. Wiebe wheeled away and was swarmed by his teammates after putting San Diego ahead.

San Diego only managed two shots on goal, but put them both away. 

The season finale is next week at home against Santa Clara. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. (PT).
