USD Dance Team Contract 2021-2022

Do you have school spirit? Love to dance and cheer? Are you an advanced level dancer who wants to pursue it at the collegiate level? Now, is your opportunity to be a part of the nationally ranked USD Dance Team! Cheer for our Torero champions, and dance at Torero football, basketball and other games! Get involved in the USD student community and the surrounding San Diego community. This is your chance to become a member of one of the most well respected dance teams in the West Coast Conference.
USD Athletics is excited to announce spring VIRTUAL auditions for the 2021-2022 USD Dance Team.

What to SUBMIT to achappell@sandiego.edu :     Including:
  • Headshot
  • Reference Contact Information
  • Video clip(s) of these dance requirements: double/triple turn, a technical turn of your choice, a turn sequence of your choice, jete, center leap, calypso, a recent dance routine or solo (preferably in jazz, hip hop, or pom), and any optional advanced tricks.
Tryout Process
  • Tryout application is available online at https://forms.gle/dDJNVYr8m6itWogq9
  • Coach Anna Haskell will notify if you have made finals via email.
  • The judging and scoring will be based on completion of video requirements, technical ability, and showmanship.
  • Individual interviews may be conducted via Zoom. 
USD Dance Team VIRTUAL Audition!
  • We will announce the 2021-2022 USD Dance Team on Instagram in May. Applicants will be personally notified of their position prior to the public announcement.
Requirements:
  • Each dancer is required to attend all practices during the season. We practice Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Sunday morning. Dancers are also required to attend all home football games, basketball games, and other required events.
  • Dancers are required to attend choreography camp in Las Vegas July 25-26 2021.
  • Dancers are also required to come early to school in August and January for our semester prep camps.
  • In March we travel for Las Vegas for the annual West Coast Conference.
  • Upon making the team, dancers must send a check for team fees to: USD ATHLETICS - DANCE TEAM. Team fees are $850 for rookie dancers and $400 for returning dancers. This covers some apparel and choreography. Other team expenses are funded through the school and fundraising.
