LOS ANGELES — San Diego baseball (19-6, 5-2 WCC) lost its sixth game of the season on Saturday night after a late-game rally fell short, dropping an 9-5 decision to Loyola Marymount (10-17, 3-7 WCC) at Page Stadium.
The Toreros plated three runs across the seventh and eighth innings courtesy of a sacrifice fly from junior
Shane McGuire and a two-RBI double from true freshman
Kevin Sim, but were unable to overcome the Lions' nine-run performance.
Sim and senior
Adam Lopez led the USD offense with three hits apiece, and sophomore righty
Jack Dolak turned in San Diego's most impressive pitching performance of the game, striking out all six batters he faced out of the bullpen in two scoreless frames.
LMU scored once in the first, five times in the fourth, once in the fifth, and twice in the sixth to secure the 9-5 victory.
The WCC series continues tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. at Page Stadium.
