SAN DIEGO - Gianna Sbarbaro was named to the West Coast Conference All-Academic team, the conference announced on Thursday.
Sydney Avery,
Grace Beal,
Macey Holt,
Sera Parvin and
Hannah Rasmussen were also recognized as All-Academic honorable mention selections.
This marks the first All-Academic honor from Sbarbaro to cap off a historic season as she became the first runner in school history to compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships. Sbarbaro held a 3.98 GPA while double majoring in Marketing and Business Administration.
Avery, Beal, Holt and Parvin were also recognized for the first time for their work in the classroom, while Rasmussen earned her second honorable mention nod and third All-Academic recognition.
No fewer than 56 student-athletes qualified for academic honors across the WCC. More than 40 posted a GPA of at least 3.50, while 24 posted marks of 3.75 or better.
At the conclusion of each athletic season, the WCC selects an all-academic squad for each WCC-sponsored sport. To be considered, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average while also being a significant contributor to her team.
