SAN DIEGO—After an unprecedented spring season that saw San Diego enter the Division I FCS record books, the Toreros will compete in their 59th season of football with an 11-game slate beginning Sept. 4.
 
The Toreros will kick off the fall 2021 season in Torero Stadium when they play host to Cal Poly in the first of three tough nonconference matchups. San Diego will host UC Davis the following week before traveling to face Montana State in Bozeman, Mont.
 
It is the first time in program history that USD will face three scholarship teams in the regular season, all from the Big Sky conference.
 
In their 29th season as a member of the Pioneer Football League, the Toreros will host PFL newcomer St. Thomas (MN) as well as Drake, Valparaiso and Morehead State. On the road, USD will face Davidson, Butler, Presbyterian and Stetson.
 
The spring 2021 season saw the Toreros tie the FCS record for consecutive conference victories with 39 games and finish one win shy of their 12th PFL title. Under the direction of head coach Dale Lindsey, who enters his ninth season at the helm
 
San Diego will host back-to-back Big Sky opponents with the Mustangs on Sept. 4 and the Aggies on Sept. 11 to open up the season.
 
USD will finish up the nonconference slate traveling to face the Bobcats in week three (Sept. 18). It will be the first meeting for the two programs since 1959.
 
The Toreros will open up league play on the road against the 2021 spring PFL champion, Davidson on Sept. 25 and host the newest member of the PFL, St. Thomas in Torero Stadium in week four (Oct. 2).
 
In week five, San Diego will travel to Indianapolis to take on Butler (Oct. 9) before hosting Drake for USD Homecoming and Family Weekend (Oct. 16).
 
The Toreros will travel to Presbyterian for the second season in a row, taking on the Blue Hose in week seven (Oct. 23). USD will host teams on back-to-back weekends, closing out its home schedule against Valparaiso (Oct. 30) and Morehead State (Nov. 6).
 
After a week 11 bye, USD will close out the regular season at Stetson on Nov. 20.
 
Season tickets for the fall 2021 campaign's six home games will go on sale at a later date, with more information soon to be available on USDToreros.com. Game times will be announced in the summer.
