Full Preseason Poll
 
SAN DIEGO—San Diego Volleyball was picked No. 20 in the 2021 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced Monday by the organization. It marks the 24th consecutive season the Toreros have appeared in the AVCA Coaches Poll.
 
The Toreros finished third in the West Coast Conference last season and capped off the spring 2021 campaign as the No. 21 team in the rankings after advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. USD was one of three WCC teams ranked in the preseason poll including No. 15 BYU and No. 22 Pepperdine.
 
USD will face five opponents this season that were ranked in the preseason poll, including No. 1 Texas in the season opener on Aug. 27. Other teams include No. 17 UCLA and No. 19 Utah, while USC, Hawaii and Cal Poly are also receiving votes.
 
The Toreros return 11 letterwinners, who all saw extensive time on the court in the unique spring 2021 season. USD also adds four incoming freshmen and one sophomore transfer to head coach Jennifer Petrie's squad that finished 13-5 last season.
 
Annie Benbow, Gabby Goddard, Katie Lukes, Laura Madill, Camryn Tastad and Lauren Turner represent the senior class.
