SAN DIEGO — San Diego men's soccer (1-5-0, 0-0-0 WCC) concludes its second homestand of the 2021 season with a midweek matchup against UC Irvine (1-4-1, 0-0-0 Big West) this Wednesday, taking on the Anteaters at 7 p.m. at Torero Stadium.

ALL-TIME RECORD AGAINST UC IRVINE
USD is 18-6-3 against the Anteaters all-time, with the two programs' most recent meeting coming in September 2019 at Anteater Stadium, a 1-0 Torero win in overtime.

The Toreros are 11-4-2 against UC Irvine at Torero Stadium all-time, a span that dates back to 1984.

Each of the two teams' last meetings in San Diego have ended in ties (2018, 2015).

CLAUSEN LEADING THE WAY
Sophomore Nicklas Clausen has been the Toreros' most dynamic player on offense thus far in 2021, with 14 shots, eight shots on goal, and three goals to his credit through USD's six total games. The Denmark native scored twice in the Toreros' 2-0 win over CSU Bakersfield last Friday at home, finding the back of the net in the 13th and 77th minutes.

LAST TIME OUT
San Diego dropped a 3-0 decision to UC Davis on Sunday afternoon at Torero Stadium last time out. Clausen and Ross Johnstone each had a single shot on goal. Clausen had a total of three shots, Praise Maduekwe had two, and Owen Wiebe had one. Goalkeeper Marley Mascarenas had a single save on the day.

UC Davis scored after 43:20 of play to take a 1-0 lead into halftime, then added on with a pair of goals in the 73rd and 76th minutes to make it a 3-0 game.
